Notes
Lion Joe Smith reports that the South Hills Playground Cleaning Project was very successful. Some 40 people (neighbors, moms, dads, kids, friends, Lions) showed up to clean their playground. Starting at 9AM and ending after lunch the ground received a good face lift. There were 8 Lions who worked 7 1/2 hours, they were: Tom Faller, Terry Stackhouse, Art Black, Mike Windler, Clint Champagne, Bill Hetrick, Bob Noah, and Joe Smith.
If you are interested in serving a one year term on the board of directors see Lion Bill Hetrick, nominating Committee Chair.
Lion George Bonnett received the prestigious Pennsylvania Lions Foundation Award at the recent District 14N Spring Rally.
Fifteen members participated in the recent Adopt-A-Highway Activity.
A volunteer committee is exploring the formation of a LEO Club.
Thirty members and guests enjoyed the recent club sponsored bus trip. Thanks goes to Lion Don McCandless for his effort in putting this together.
The board approved the donation of $500 to the VIP Sports Camp. The Secretary has a packet of information on the camp.
The Board approved an $80. payment for the eye glasses for a low income individual.
Four Club members spent a weekend at Beacon Lodge painting the inside of the building. Lions in the party were: Rich Cox, John Hertzog, Neil Ashbaugh, and Dan Marshall.
May Dates
20, 6:30 PM, Membership Meeting #2, At the Oberg Industries Co. It is on a side road, Silverville Rd, off of Rte 356, to the right, as one approaches the Rte 28 ramp. The program is a tour of the operations.
27, 6:30 PM, Board Meet at the Blind Assoc.
June Dates
03, 6:30 PM, Membership Meeting #1, at the Lions shelter in Alameda Park, Instalation of Officers will be the highlight this night.
16, 6:30 PM Monday, Membership Meeting #2 and Law Appreciation Banquet at the American Legion Post 117, 413 S. Main St, Butler, PA. Our Lions Club is celebrating its 85th Anniversary.
